DHL need a new SatNav?

I must say that I'm very impressed with how thoroughly DHL make sure every parcel is scanned and tracked through every stage of its journey.

I'm a little less impressed with their knowledge of geography.

The tracking record attached is for a parcel sent last Friday to Richmond, Surrey, a destination approximately 70 miles away from its collection point:

DHL just phoned, confirming that the parcel has left Cincinnati.

Good news. Except...

It's been misrouted again. Now, it's on its way to Puerto Rico.

Exciting, isn't it?

It's back in Cincinnati, and they've sent it somewhere else.

But they're not telling us where. Yet. Or perhaps they don't know.

And for the finale...

It seems that the boys in Puerto Rico figured out that there was something amiss with the routing code that kept sending it to the wrong place each time the barcode was scanned.
Brilliant. It took all that time...

Anyway, they cancelled the routing altogether, re-addressed it as though it was a new consignment originating in Puerto Rico with its destination the correct address in the UK.

It worked. Except... UK customs were suspicious. They unpacked it and dismantled it completely. They didn't even put it back together properly.

It was quite a surprise when it reached its destination earlier today and, after putting a few components back in and replacing some missing screws, it worked.

That's over 25,000 miles in 7 days, and nearly as many countries as I've visited in my lifetime. Well done, DHL. A classic.
